Infrastructuralism
La Trobe Art Institute
Bendigo, VIC

06.02.2018 - 17.03.2018

Curated by Dr Kent Wilson

For Infrastructuralism five artists produced and delivered work that infiltrated the physical system of the gallery. Born of the mechanisms of institutional operations and conscious of its setting, the exhibition sought to expose the hidden, neglected or secretive support structures that serve as platforms for the presentation of art objects. Presented across all spaces at La Trobe Art Institute, the artworks in Infrastructuralism married humour with acute material awareness, playfully incurring into the infrastructure of the cultural organisation.

A new site-responsive work titled Instant Gratification was exhibited in Infrastructuralism alongside works by Agatha Gothe-Snape, Carolyn Eskdale, Helen Grogan, and Jessie Bullivant.
