always more steps to climb

Getting Things Done features new work from four Western Australian artists examining the support structures and peripheral activities of art and exhibition production. The artists developed work for the exhibition in close discussion, pooling their shared interests and experiences as creative practitioners, small business owners, ARI directors and educators. Informed by both the logistics of Western Australian isolation and a growing, global self-awareness of contemporary art as ‘industry’, Getting Things Done explores the materiality and ethos of contemporary artistic labour, attempting to unpack email communications, production formalities and methods of promotion as subjects and avenues for meaningful visual enquiry.
A new site-specific work titled always more steps to climb was exhibited in Getting Things Done alongside works by Dan Bourke, Teelah George, and Jacob Ogden Smith.
